1. qd - write out “every day” or “daily”
2. hs - write out “at bedtime”
3. qod - write out “every other day”
4. tiw - write out “three times per week”
5. AD - write out “right ear”
6. AL - write out “left ear”
7. AU - write out “each ear”
8. OD - write out “right eye”
9. OS - write out “left eye”
10. OU - write out “in both eyes”
11. sc or sq - write out “subcutaneous” or “Sub Q”
12. cc - use “mL”
13. µg - use “mcg” [The reason this abbreviation is no longer used is because nurses were confusing it with mg and administering the incorrect dose to the patient.]
